Goldeyes Edge Wingnuts in Game One

Goldeyes' designated hitter Barbaro Canizares hit a solo home run to left field leading off the bottom of the 10th to win the game. Canizares connected on a 3-0 pitch from Josh Dew who took the loss.

Wichita had three separate leads in the game, and went ahead 4-3 in the top of the eighth. Jessie Mier singled throug the right side with one out and advanced to second on a groundball to first from Mike Conroy. Steve Stanley singled to right on an 0-2 pitch to drive in Mier with the lead run.

Winnipeg answered back in the bottom of the inning. After there were two outs and no one on base, Michael Coles singled down the right field line and took second on an error by David Peralta. Kyle Day pulled a double to right field that scored Coles to tie the game.

Brian Beuning earned the win in relief for Winnipeg, allowing one earned run in two and two-thirds innings.

The Goldeyes scratched out the first run of the game on an RBI fielder's choice from Day in the bottom of the second.

Two walks and a double steal from Ryan Khoury and Jake Kahaulelio gave Wichita second and third with two outs in the top of the third. Greg Porter singled up the middle to drive in both runners and give Wichita a 2-1 lead.

A bases loaded walk to Josh Mazzola in the bottom of the third tied the game.

The Wingnuts took their second lead of the night in the top of the fifth when C.J. Ziegler, Porter, and Peralta hit consecutive singles. Peralta finished the night with three hits.

Mazzola doubled leading off the bottom of the sixth, took third on a Luis Alen sacrifice bunt, and scored on a Coles' single to right-center to tie the game at 3-3.

Josh Lowey started for the Wingnuts and took a no-decision, allowing three earned runs on six hits in five and two-thirds innings. Lowey walked five and struck out three.

Andrew Walker started for the Goldeyes and also took a no-decision. Walker allowed three earned runs on eight hits in five and two-thirds. Walker walked four and struck out one.

Nick Walters and Jared Simon each had a scoreless relief appearance for the Wingnuts.
