Basketball brought Kevin Durant a summer of extremes.
Just weeks after sobbing with his mother and father after his Oklahoma City Thunder lost their fourth straight game against Miami to come up short in the NBA Finals, Durant was celebrating a gold medal with Team USA in London.
Now he has try to rally an even younger Thunder team back to the finals in a bid for a different ending.
The three-time NBA scoring champion says he thought last year was supposed to be Oklahoma City's year after beating Western Conference powers Dallas, San Antonio and the Los Angeles Lakers just to get to the NBA Finals.
The Thunder play their final preseason game in Wichita tonight.
