Collin Klein (K-State), Jake Knott (Iowa State) and Deante' Gray (TCU) have been named Big 12 Conference Football Players of the Week, as selected by a media panel. Klein (offense) and Knott (defense) picked up their second career honor while Gray earned his first Big 12 weekly award.
Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
Collin Klein, K-State, QB, Sr, Loveland, Colo.
Collin Klein threw for 210 yards and a touchdown on 9-of-11 passing in the Wildcats' 52-13 win over Miami. The senior also rushed for 71 yards and three scores. The three touchdowns marked the 10th time in Klein's career that he has rushed for multiple TDs in the same game.
Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Jake Knott, Iowa State, LB, Sr, Waukee, Iowa
Jake Knott anchored the Iowa State defense in a 9-6 win at intrastate rival Iowa. His interception of a Hawkeye pass with 1:11 left iced the victory. Knott finished the game with six tackles as the Cyclones held Iowa to 68 yards rushing on 28 attempts.
Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Deante' Gray, TCU, PR, Fr, Houston, Texas
Deante' Gray set a TCU single-game punt return record with 160 yards on five attempts in TCU's 56-0 win over Grambling State. He had a 70-yard touchdown on his first collegiate touch after the Horned Frogs forced a three-and-out by Grambling State on the game's opening series. The freshman also had a 61-yard punt return in the second half.
