Chiefs release Brandon Flowers

KANSAS CITY, Mo The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Friday that the club has released cornerback Brandon Flowers.

“We appreciate Brandon’s contributions to the team over the last six seasons,” Chiefs General Manager John Dorsey said. “It’s in the best interest of the club and the player to part ways at this time. We wish him nothing but the best as he continues his career.”

Flowers (5-9, 187) has played in 88 games (87 starts) in six NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs (2008- 13). His career numbers include 421 tackles (338 solo), 2.0 sacks, four forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. He has 17 interceptions returned for a total of 344 yards with three touchdowns and 97 passes defensed. Flowers has started two postseason games for the club tallying eight tackles (five solo) and one interception.

The Delray Beach, Florida, native originally entered the NFL as a second-round draft selection (35th overall) of the Chiefs in the 2008 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Virginia Tech and prepped at Atlantic High School in Delray Beach, Florida.
