Tied at 2-2, Wichita scored six times in the top of the fourth to take control of the game. Mark Wagner opened the inning with a line drive single to left-center. Greg Porter then smashed a groundball towards right field. Sox' second baseman Jake Opitz made a diving stop to his left before making an errant throw near the Wingnuts dugout. The play was ruled a two-base error and gave Wichita second and third with no outs. David Peralta lined a single down the right field line to give Wichita a 3-2 lead. With runners on the corners and still no outs, Jessie Mier doubled down the right field line to plate Porter and Peralta. After Steve Carrillo reached on an infield single, Mike Conroy walked to load the bases. Ryan Khoury capped off the rally with a three-run double to right-center that made it 8-2.

Wingnuts' starter Ryan Hinson allowed just one more run the rest of the way on a Tim Alberts two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

Hinson earned the win, allowing three earned runs on eight hits in six innings of work. Hinson walked four and struck out three.

Jared Simon, Dillon Wilson, and James Baker each worked a scoreless inning of relief.

The Sox took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Harrison Kain doubled down the right field line leading off and scored on a groundball single to left from Opitz.

With two outs and no one on base in the top of the second, Mier was hit by a pitch. Carrillo followed with a towering home run to left field that gave Wichita a 2-1 lead.

Amarillo tied the game in the bottom of the second when Opitz drew a bases loaded walk.

Chuck Lofgren started for the Sox and took the loss, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits in three-plus innings. Lofgren walked one and struck out two.
