KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Zach Greinke (GRAYN'-kee) allowed two
hits over eight innings and reliever Joakim Soria (SOHR'-ee-uh)
pitched a perfect ninth as the Kansas City Royals shutout the
visiting Chicago White Sox 3-to-0.
Greinke record a career-high 10 strikeouts while raising his
record to 7-and-6.
Soria notched his 17th save in 21 chances.
Sox starter Jon Garland gave up three runs and six hits in eight
innings to fall to 9-and-13.
Tony Pena (PAYN'-yuh) Junior provided the bulk of the offense
with a pair of RBIs.
The Royals climbed out of the American League Central basement
with the victory. They are a half-game better than the
cellar-dwelling White Sox.
Just over 10,000 people showed up to watch the game, which
lasted just an hour and 55 minutes.
