Yankees 3 Royals 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Bobby Abreu's (uh-BVRAY'-ooz) RBI double
was the difference as the New York Yankees beat the Royals 3-2 at
Kansas City.
The game was tied 2-2 in the seventh until Derek Jeter hit a
two-out single and scored on Abreu's two-bagger.
Alex Rodriguez gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead in the second with
his major league-leading 49th home run. Jorge Posada added his 19th
homer later in the inning to double the Yankees' lead.
Rodriguez had three hits as the Yankees kept their three-game
lead over Detroit for the AL wild-card lead.
Jason Smith and Mark Grudzielanek (gruh-zuh-LAH'-nek) had RBI
singles for the Royals.
Kyle Farnsworth worked a scoreless sixth to move to 2-and-1. He
replaced Ian Kennedy, who allowed two runs and seven hits over five
innings in his second major league start.
Mariano Rivera notched his 24th save with a scoreless ninth.
Neal Musser fell to 0-and-2.
