Chiefs' Allen begins 2-game suspension for DUIs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Jared
Allen will have to stay away from the game he loves the next couple
of weeks.
Allen is serving a two-game suspension for multiple
drunken-driving arrests. He can attend team meetings, but not
practice.
He's allowed to work out with strength and conditioning coaches
and use team facilities. But he can't be with the team in Houston
and Chicago for the first two games.
It could be worse. He was facing a four-game suspension until
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell cut the penalty in half. Goodell
cited Allen's improved behavior and vow to stay sober.
Chiefs president Carl Peterson says Allen is the only suspended
NFL player this year to have his punishment reduced.
