Tigers 6 Royals 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Curtis Granderson hit the tie-breaking
homer and Jeremy Bonderman scattered six hits over seven innings in
the Detroit Tigers' 6-1 win at Kansas City.
Detroit moves three games back of the wild card leading Yankees.
Seattle is a half-game back entering tonight's game in Cleveland.
Magglio Ordonez homered and drove in three runs for the Tigers
who avoid the three-game sweep.
Bonderman stopped a six-game losing streak and ran his record to
11-and-7. Fernando Rodney and Joel Zumaya (zoo-MY'-uh) each pitched
an inning of hitless relief.
Royals starter Leo Nunez (NOON'-yehz) fell to 2-and-2 getting
hammered for six runs on 12 hits over six and a-third innings. It
was his first loss in six career decisions at home.
