KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Kansas City's preseason game with New
Orleans this week will be a big one for Boomer Grigsby.
The former linebacker is trying to make the team at fullback,
but nagging injuries have slowed him -- and roster cutdowns are
coming.
The New Orleans game will be his first and possibly best chance
to show how much progress he has made.
Coach Herm Edwards says Grigsby has done everything the team
asked. Now he has to prove he can play that position.
Kris Wilson is the starter, but Boomer could be a backup.
Grigsby has the build for a fullback, at 5-feet-11 and 250
pounds.
Mostly, he would be expected to block for Larry Johnson, if the
two-time Pro Bowl running back ends his contract holdout and
rejoins the team.
