The team scheduled to play the Wichita Wranglers at Lawrence-Dumont stadium tonight suffered a tragic loss this weekend.

The president of the Tulsa Drillers minor-league team says Mike Coolbaugh's death is "a tragedy for all of baseball."

Due to the death, the scheduled game between the Wranglers and the Drillers has been canceled for Monday night. Team officials say the game has been rescheduled as part of a double-header at Lawrence-Dumont on Sunday, August 26th beginning at 12pm. The teams will play two, 7-inning games.

The remaining two games with the Drillers this week will be played as scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday. They will also take donations at the game for the coach.

Coolbaugh was coaching first base during the team's game against the Arkansas Travelers last night when a line-drive foul struck him in the head and killed him.

The 35-year-old coach was given CPR on the field and rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The game was suspended.

Coolbaugh, who played 44 games in the major leagues with the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers, joined the Drillers as a batting coach July Third. The team is a Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

Coolbaugh is survived by his pregnant wife and two small children.

The game between Wichita and Tulsa is still scheduled for 7:05pm Monday.
