Belgian wins second stage in his homeland

GHENT, Belgium (AP) -- Gert Steegmans (STEHG'-mehnz) of Belgium
has won the second stage of the Tour de France in his home country.
His teammate, Tom Boonen (BOH'-nehn), finished second and
Italy's Filippo Pozzato (poh-ZAH'-toh) was third in the 105-mile
stage from Dunkirk, France to Ghent (gehnt).
Switzerland's Fabian Cancellara kept the overall jersey despite
going down in a crash that claimed many of the riders about a mile
and a-quarter from the finish line.
Germany's Andreas Kloeden (KLOH'-dihn) is second overall and
Britain's David Millar (MIHL'-ur) is third.
