The Kansas City Star reports that Pro Bowl running back Larry Johnson says he's prepared to sit out the Chiefs' training camp.

In an interview with Star columnist Jason Whitlock, Johnson says he's taken steps to save money in case the possible holdout becomes
long-term.

Johnson is under contract for this season to make one-point-seven (m) million dollars, but wants a contract extension.

Johnson says he expects a challenge from team president Carl
Peterson who likely won't immediately settle on new terms.

His agent -- Alvin Keels -- says Johnson's current salary is "not good business."

Johnson rushed for 17-hundred yards and carried an NFL record
416 times last season.
