Governor Graves has ordered immediate budget cuts of $41 million as the state continues having a decline in revenue.
The cuts figure out to around 1% of the budget of nearly $4.5 billion
Revenue collections last month were $18 million lower than experts predicted. And today's move is Graves' attempt to keep the state from ending the fiscal year next summer with a negative balance.
Elementary and secondary education was held to a cut of $17.5 million. It translates to a reduction of per-pupil spending by $30.
