Sisters Toss Simultaneous No-Hitters

SALINA, Kan. (AP) -- Two Kansas sisters are getting national attention for pitching no-hitters -- at the same time.

Kansas Wesleyan University pitcher Ashley Coker tossed a no-hitter Friday while sister Katie was throwing one of her own for Sacred Heart High School. Both have notched several no-hitters, but until Friday never at the same time.

Both games were played at Bill Burke Sports Complex in Salina, and their father Tom Coker ran between the two fields to watch his daughters whitewash the opposition.

In the final inning of the Sacred Heart game, Katie Coker almost lost her no-hitter when an opposing batter hit a grounder into right field. That normally would've been a base hit but right fielder Kendra Neubauer threw the batter out at first.
