Shockers back in the A.P. hoops poll for the first time since 1983.">
November 21-The Shockers accomplish something that hasn’t happened to the team in 23 years. In the coaches’ poll, the Shocks
still sit at 27, but in the AP poll, the Shockers are now
ranked in the top 25.
Shocker fans have been waiting for this day for a long
time. For the first time in 23 years the black and gold
are ranked in the AP poll, sitting at number 24. At the
Applebees weekly live Turgeon radio show, the poll was the
top of the show. While coach Mark Turgeon thinks the
ranking is more an indication of the Shockers success last
season, fans are still pumped up about the Shockers big
win over George Mason on Saturday.
WSU lost to the Patriots twice last year including in the
Sweet 16, but this time it was all shocks. Beating George
Mason on the road on the same night George Mason was
raising it’s Final Four banner.
But can the team stay in the polls? It could be tough; the
Shocks have a difficult stretch ahead of them. Two of the
next three teams they face are also in the top 25, and
both games are away games. Still, Fans are optimistic. The
Shockers are sitting at 3-0 going into this Saturday’s
game against LSU.
