The Wichita State baseball team (23-20) won its third-straight game with a 5-3 victory over Tabor (21-29) Tuesday night at Eck Stadium.
Cody Lassley went 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Shocker offense, while Taylor Brown, Chris O'Brien and Clint McKeever each posted multiple hits on the night. Reliever Clint Maune (1-0) posted the win on the hill, giving up one hit while striking out two in an inning of work.
Tabor starter Brad Zewe (2-5) took the loss for the Bluejays, giving up four runs on seven hits while walking five and striking out one.
The Bluejays scored three in the first on three-straight RBI singles off Shocker starter Cameron Maldonado by Mike Chaput, Andrew Cook and Paul Bridenbaugh.
WSU didn't answer until the second when Lassley brought home Chris O'Brien on a sacrifice-fly after O'Brien led the inning off with a double. Lassley's first RBI of the night cut Tabor's lead to 3-1 after two.
The Shockers tied the game with two more in the fourth after Lassley scored on a Tyler Grimes single after leading the frame off with a double down the left line. Will Baez later brought Grimes home on a sacrifice-fly to tie the game, 3-3 after four.
Lassley's one-out single in the fifth proved to be the game winner, scoring Remington Johnson and O'Brien to give WSU a 5-3 edge after five.
The Bluejays never seriously threatened to score after that, as WSU's bullpen held Tabor to just one hit after the first inning with two walks and nine strikeouts.
WSU is next in action at 7 p.m., tomorrow night at Oral Roberts. The game will air live on Kansas 22.
