The school board in Liberal accepted the resignation yesterday of football coach Rich Anderson. The team was penalized because Anderson violated an equipment rule.
The school is the first in the state to violate the two-year-old rule. It prohibits schools from issuing equipment during the summer for a coach's camp or a camp at another site.
The school says Anderson used its equipment at a camp in Liberal
and the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Liberal reported itself to the association.
The association suspended Anderson through September eighth,
which included the first game of the season.
The team also got one year of administrative probation but will remain eligible for post-season play and awards.
