WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- J.T. Durley scored 14 points to lead
Wichita State past Emporia State 71-58 in an exhibition game
tonight.
Reggie Chamberlain added 11 points for the Shockers, who also
got eight points and 14 rebounds from Ramon Clemente.
Lamar Wilbern scored 17 points to lead Emporia State, an NCAA
Division II team.
The Shockers staged a 12-2 run early in the second half to lead
it 54-37. A three-point play by Wilbern brought Emporia State
within 63-57 with 3:56 remaining, but Durley scored four points to
cap an 8-1 Wichita State run to end the game.
Wichita State bolted to a 15-0 lead in the first half behind
seven points from Durley before the Hornets narrowed the margin
with help from Matt Boswell, finished the period with three
3-pointers and 13 points.
Wichita State opens the season Sunday with a home game against
Florida A&M.
