Former Kansas State running back Leon
Patton's preliminary hearing on a charge of child abuse for
allegedly shaking a 2-month-old boy is set for Nov. 17.
Patton appeared in Riley County District Court on Tuesday for a
status hearing, where the preliminary hearing was scheduled.
The 20-year-old junior was arrested Sept. 18 for the July 15
incident.
Defense attorney Larry McRell said he plans to use medical
experts to help support Patton's case.
Patton was dismissed from the Kansas State team after the charge
was filed.
He had already had been suspended after a July traffic stop led
to the discovery of outstanding warrants from 2007, one for
stealing two video games from a Wal-Mart.
Patton was projected to start this season after rushing for 390
yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore.
