Large-scale protests fizzled. And departed
basketball coach Roy Williams got a standing ovation as he spoke to
about two-thousand people last night at the University of Kansas'
basketball banquet.
One man yelled "traitor" at Williams, who quit the Jayhawks
this week to become the coach at North Carolina.
The father of star forward and M-V-P Nick Collison drew cheers
when he stood and told the critic: "You should be ashamed of
yourself."
Even the players, some who said earlier they're mad at Williams'
decision, hugged the coach.
An emotional Williams told the crowd: "I know that this night
is not about me. It's about the 2002-2003 Kansas basketball team."
