CHICAGO (AP) -- Back spasms kept cleanup hitter Jose Guillen
(GEE'-ihn) out of the Royals lineup for tonight's game with the
Chicago White Sox.
Kansas City manager Trey Hillman says Guillen took batting
practice in a cage three straight days during the All-Star break,
but started having back spasms last night.
Billy Butler stood in tonight for Guillen as designated hitter
in the cleanup spot.
Hillman hopes to have Guillen back in the lineup tomorrow for
game two of the series at Chicago.
Guillen is batting .270 with 13 homers, 29 doubles and 65 RBIs,
fourth most in the American League. He has played in the outfield
and been the Royals' DH.
