Chalmers To Stay In NBA Draft

As expected, Mario Chalmers has decided to
skip his senior year at the University of Kansas and stay in the
NBA draft.

Jayhawks head coach Bill Self made the announcement Sunday
night, just hours after Chalmers informed him of his decision. He
joins teammates Brandon Rush and Darrell Arthur in giving up their
collegiate eligibility for the NBA.

Self said he anticipated Chalmers would pursue an NBA career
ever since April when the 21-year-old guard from Anchorage, Alaska,
declared without an agent.

Named the most outstanding player of the 2008 Final Four, the
6-foot-1-inch Chalmers averaged almost 13 points per game and led
the Big 12 Conference in steals all three seasons at Kansas.

Chalmers said "Being at Kansas has made me a better player and
better person."
