Jordy Mercer hit the go-ahead home run
in the seventh inning and Oklahoma State won its sixth straight
game with a 5-3 decision against Wichita State.
Mercer gave the Cowboys a 4-3 lead with his two-run shot to
left-center field off reliever Logan Hoch (0-1), and Donnie Webb
added a solo homer in the eighth to provide some extra cushion.
The Shockers had taken the lead in the top of the seventh on
Andy Dirks' second solo home run of the game off reliever Brett
Davis (2-0).
Dirks also homered off Oklahoma State starter Matt Gardner to
start the game Wednesday night.
Davis got the win, allowing only Dirks' home run in three
innings of relief. Robbie Weinhardt pitched two scoreless innings
for his second save.
Mercer finished with three hits. He also singled and had an RBI
double.
