Mariners 11 Royals 6

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Jose Lopez has become the 12th player in
major league history to hit three sacrifice flies in a game, doing
it in Seattle's 11-6 pounding of Kansas City.
Lopez became the second Mariner to accomplish the feat, joining
Edgar Martinez. He also helped the M's match a team record with
five sac-flies in a game, previously done in 1988.
Lopez also had an RBI single, Yuniesky Betancourt
(yoo-nee-EHS'-kee) Betancourt drove in three runs and Kenji Johjima
(KEN'-jee JOH'-jih-muh) added two RBIs to the rout.
The Mariners' assault allowed Miguel Batista to pick up his
first win of the season despite yielding four runs and seven hits
in just five innings. Batista improved to 1-and-2 while John Bale
fell to 0-and-3.
Bale was reached for seven hits and five earned runs in
three-plus innings.
