Sept 27 -- Kansas State running back Thomas Clayton
is charged today with misdemeanor battery stemming from an incident
with a university parking services employee.

Riley County Attorney Barry Wilkerson declined to comment on
specific evidence.

Clayton was arrested September 16th after parking services
worker James Seymour said the running back nearly ran him over
while trying to avoid having his vehicle immobilized for parking

He was released on one-thousand dollars bond. Police say Seymour
was not injured.

Clayton started Kansas State's first two games, rushing for a
school-record 329 yards. But was held out of last Saturday's
54-to-7 victory over North Texas.

Coach Bill Snyder said yesterday that Clayton will play this
Saturday against Oklahoma, but did not say whether he would start
the game.
