Royals fall to Mariners; prepare for last game in Arizona

Mariners 8, Royals 5

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) -- Gil Meche gave up five runs in five
innings as Kansas City lost to the Seattle Mariners 8-5 today.
Meche is scheduled to start for the Royals when they open the
regular season at Detroit on Monday. He gave up four runs on five
hits in the first inning in his poorest outing of spring training.
Miguel Olivo hit a two-run homer for the Royals and Jason Smith
homered twice, including an inside-the-park home run.
Billy Butler was 2-for-3 with a double and Ryan Shealy tripled.
Manager Trey Hillman made it official that lefty John Bale and
right-hander Brett Tomko will be the Royals fourth and fifth
