June 29-- University of Kansas basketball coach Bill
Self says guard J-R Giddens will leave K-U for another school.
Giddens is recovering from a knife wound he suffered during a
bar brawl in Lawrence last month.
The 20-year-old Giddens and five others were injured in the
fight outside the Moon Bar May 19th. An artery in Giddens' right
calf was cut and the wound required 30 stitches.
Police have received conflicting accounts from those involved
and witnesses about what led to the altercation.
The six-foot-five Giddens would be a junior on what will be one
of the youngest teams in the Big 12 next year. He averaged just
more than ten points last season and was criticized for his
inconsistency and poor defense.
Giddens would have been the Jayhawks' leading returning scorer.
