ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Drake guard Adam Emmenecker, the surprise element on the surprise team in the Missouri Valley, is the MVC's player of the year.
The conference announced its postseason awards today.
Emmenecker is a senior with just two career starts before this season. Now, he averages six assists per game for 20th-ranked Drake heading into this week's conference tournament.
Drake also landed sophomore guard Josh Young on the all-conference first team. Others on the first team are Jeremy Crouch of Bradley, Osiris Eldridge of Illinois State and Randal Falker of Southern Illinois.
Creighton players took three of four specialty awards, with P'Allen Stinnett named newcomer of the year and freshman of the year and Booker Woodfox the top sixth man. SIU's Bryan Mullins is defensive MVP.
