PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) -- San Diego starter Shawn Estes gave up six
runs and four hits in two-thirds of an inning as the Kansas City
Royals beat the Padres 13-9 today.
The left-hander gave up a two-run homer to first baseman Ross
Gload. Estes had reconstructive elbow surgery in 2006 and spent
last season rehabilitating his arm and pitching in the minor
Kansas City starter Gil Meche allowed two hits in two scoreless
innings. The right-hander said he had trouble locating some
Justin Huber had two doubles and David DeJesus and Gload had two
Jimmy Gobble gave up four runs in two-thirds of an inning.
