DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- There might not be a better statistic that illustrates the challenges Greg McDermott has faced at Iowa State than 0-and-8. That's the Cyclones' record against ranked teams the past two years. There have been a few close calls along the way. One of the ranked teams Iowa State came inches from beating, Number 6 Kansas, rolls into Ames tomorrow night.
McDermott says he hasn't given his team's woes against the nation's elite a second thought. But there's little doubt that a win over the Jayhawks would give Iowa State a major boost.
The Cyclones have lost seven of nine.
The Jayhawks are 24-3 but have lost two of three. Kansas is coming off a one-point loss to Oklahoma State.
Iowa State nearly knocked off the Jayhawks in Ames last season.
