ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Sporting News magazine is naming Arkansas
running back Darren McFadden its player of the year.
Sporting News calls McFadden -- quote -- "the quintessential
one-man gang." He was fourth in the nation with 1,725 rushing
yards and threw four touchdown passes.
Kansas coach Mark Mangino is the magazine's coach of the year
after leading the Jayhawks to a school-record 11 victories and the
school's first Bowl Championship Series appearance.
The Jayhawks play Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl on January
3rd. The game is Kansas' first Orange Bowl game since 1969.
Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford is the magazine's freshman of
the year.
