Emporia State's athletic department said today it has suspended head men's basketball coach David Moe for one game.

The suspension follows his behavior at the end of regulation in the team's 93-to-89 overtime loss to Newman yesterday.

Referees assessed two technical fouls against Moe with less than
a minute left in the second half.

Moe went on the court to argue face-to-face with officials and later knocked over Newman's water cooler as he headed for the locker room.

Athletic Director Kent Weiser said Moe's behavior was unacceptable.

Moe's suspension will include the game Saturday at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where assistant coach Ben McCollum will assume head coaching duties.

In a written statement, Moe apologized, saying he was embarrassed and will work to set a better example.
