LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) -- Sophomore quarterback Todd Reesing has set
14 school records while leading Kansas to a 10-0 record and putting
the Jayhawks in the national championship race.
Reesing grew up just 30 minutes from the University of Texas
campus and dreamed of playing for the Longhorns.
As a high school senior, he threw for 3,340 yards and 41
touchdowns.
But Reesing is listed at 5-feet-10-inches tall, and Texas, like
most other schools, thought he was too short.
Reesing made a video of himself and mailed it a lot of colleges.
Mark Mangino at Kansas liked what he saw, and now Kansas is 10-0
for the first time since 1899.
Texas coach Mack Brown says anyone who didn't recruit Reesing --
including Texas -- made a mistake.
