Royals claim Lewis off waivers from Oakland

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Kansas City Royals added a
right-handed arm to their bullpen, claiming Colby Lewis off waivers
from the Oakland Athletics.
Lewis appeared in 26 games for the A's last season, going 0-2
with a 6.45 ERA. The 28-year-old also has the third-longest streak
for an Oakland reliever by retiring 24 straight batters.
Lewis is 12-15 with a 6.71 ERA in 72 career games, with stops in
Texas and Detroit. He missed most of 2004 and the entire 2005
season after undergoing surgery on his right rotator cuff.
The Royals also promoted Louie Medina to special assistant to
the general manager/player personnel and moved Donnie Williams to
senior adviser to the general manager.
