KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Big 12 has made millions of dollars
in its 11-year history. In the last six years, it has sent more
teams to the Final Four than any other conference.
But the conference still hasn't won a men's NCAA title. Every
BCS conference has won the NCAA championship since the Big 12 was
formed except the Big 12.
Missouri coach Mike Anderson says the conference will win it all
sooner than people might think.
Five of the league's teams return at least four starters,
including preseason favorite Kansas.
The Big 12 will also have one of the nation's top freshmen in
Kansas State's Michael Beasley. The 6-foot-10 power forward
averaged 12.3 points at the under-19 world championships in Serbia.
----
Texas Tech coach Bob Knight is closing in on another great
milestone. He's just 10 wins away from becoming the first Division
I men's coach with 900 career victories.
