COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- Texas A&M officials say they'll
admonish football coach Dennis Franchione for a secret newsletter
sent to big-money subscribers.

Athletics director Bill Byrne also says he'll consider the
newsletter when he evaluates Franchione at the end of the season.
The school also will report self-report possible secondary
violations related to the newsletter to the NCAA.

The school ordered the coach to shut down his CoachFran.com Web
site.

Franchione's 2 million-dollars-per-year contract runs through
2012. But Byrne says the Aggies are "embarrassed right now." He
calls the matter "a very unfortunate incident we did not want to
experience."

Byrne says he was unaware of the newsletters until a reporter
asked about them about a month ago. He says he suspects an effort
to hide the operation from school officials.

Franchione apologized to his team, the school and A&M fans in a
statement released after Byrne met with reporters.

The 5-1 Aggies will try to stay unbeaten in Big 12 play Saturday
when they visit 5-1 Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have split their
two Big 12 games so far.
