Tambellini Leads 1st Round Of Wichita Open

June 16, 2011

The day began with clear skies, but quickly turned dark. Severe weather moved into the Wichita area on Thursday morning, forcing a 4-hour rain delay around 11 AM. Sixty-seven golfers, including Derby native, Woody Austin were affected by the delay. Many of the players were unable to finish out the 1st round due to darkness. They'll resume play 7 AM on Friday morning.

The early group finished well ahead of the pack. Former WSU All-American, Dustin Garza struggled on Thursday. He had six bogey's and a double-bogey, despite four birdies in the 1st Round. Garza finished the round at +4, near the bottom of the field.

Scottsdale, Arizona native, Roger Tambellini had a magnificent 1st round shooting a -7, 64, with 8-birdies.
