Yang shot 2 under on the front nine Friday to reach 5 under for
the tournament before officials ordered players off the course
because of thunderstorms.
Earlier on Friday, McIlroy shot 5-under 66 to set the 36-hole
scoring record at the U.S. Open, at 11-under-par 131. If his lead
stays at six, it will match the largest lead at the midpoint of the
tournament.
McIlroy made birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 to get to 13 under, the
lowest score posted at any time during the 111-year history of the
U.S. Open. He finished with a double bogey on No. 18 -- the first
hole he played over par in the tournament.
