Stenson Concedes After 1 Hole Because Of Illness

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Henrik Stenson of Sweden has conceded his match after one hole at the Match Play Championship on Wednesday because of flulike symptoms.

Stenson won the Match Play in 2007 the first time it came to Arizona. His illness gives Ben Crane the shortest match of the day. Crane continued to play the course even though he already advanced to the second round.

Even if Stenson had withdrawn before starting the match, Crane would have advanced to the second round because none of the alternates had come to Arizona.
