Tiger Woods says his game is starting to improve, and thinks he could help the U.S. Ryder Cup team.

Woods needed to finish seventh or better to at least have a chance of earning an automatic spot on the team. But he shot his worst round of the week Sunday at the PGA Championship, scrambling for a 1-over 73. He finished the tournament at 2-under 286.

Woods arrived at Whistling Straits fresh off the worst performance of his career. But he liked the work he did this week with Sean Foley, the swing coach for Sean O'Hair and Hunter Mahan. Woods thinks he can only improve with more practice the next few weeks.

U.S. Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin is to announce his four captain's picks Sept. 7.
