Mike Gehrer is going back to Wichita Collegiate as head football coach, the school announced today. He'll replace Bill Messamore who announced he was stepping down after the season.

Gehrer is returning to Collegiate where he coached the Spartans to two state football titles and four state baseball championships before stepping down in 2005.

Longtime assistant Troy Black will serve as associate head coach.
