East High had to hold off a late charge from Wichita West to win 27-22 Thursday night.

East's first score came in the 1st quarter with a 5-yard TD run from Calil Burnett. Burnett would find the end zone again in the 2nd quarter but on the opposite end, with West posting a safety. Late in the 1st half, Blue Aces quarterback, T.J. Sparr scored on an 81-yard run to give East a 14-2 lead at the half. Sparr rushed for 140 yards and threw a touchdown.

With the victory, the Blue Aces go to 2-0 on the year, while the Pioneers go to 1-1.
