Cleanthony Early scored 25 points and led 3 Shockers in double digit scoring as Wichta State (6-0) defeated Iowa 75-63 on Wednesday night.
The victory earns the Shockers the championship for the Cancun Challenge and sends them back to Wichita with an undefeated record. Early was undoubtedly the star of the game from beginning to end, draining three 3-pointers in the first half and accounting for a third of his team's points. He added 9 rebounds and contributed to a defense that held the Hawkeyes to 26% shooting.
Point guard Malcolm Armstead was 3 of 5 from 3 point land for 14 points, adding 5 assists and 4 steals to the effort. Carl Hall posted 12 points in 21 minutes, continuing his hot free throw shooting with 6 of 7 converted.
The Shockers faced a 2 point deficit heading into halftime, but came out of the locker room with a 13-2 run to take a lead they would not relinquish.
Wichita State dominated inside the paint, outscoring the Hawkeyes 30-6.
WSU faces Tulsa on Wednesday, Nov. 28th at Koch Arena.
