Halbert went 2-for-2 with two RBI in the game, while Aaron Rea also drove in two runs. Reliever Cale Elam picked up his sixth win of the season. He pitched two innings and gave up two runs on three hits.

The Braves took an early 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. With two outs, BU used three-straight hits to go in front 2-0.

Johnny Coy hit his eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 2-1. The Shockers took the lead in exciting fashion in the fifth inning. Don Lambert led off with a double and after Kevin Hall reached on an error, Tyler Baker sacrificed them both into scoring position. Aaron Rea then used a perfect bunt on a suicide squeeze to score Lambert and Hall also scored as he never stopped running on the play to give WSU a 3-2 lead.

Lambert and Hall led off the ninth with walks and with one out, Halbert singled in Lambert and Harbutz's double and the Brave error led to the 7-6 Shocker win.
