The Wichita State baseball team defeated Bradley, 1-0, in ten innings on an Erik Harbutz game-winning RBI single on Saturday afternoon at Eck Stadium.
Kris Gardner pitched 8.1 innings, only allowing four hits, no runs, and striking out four in a no decision effort. Cale Elam got the win for the Shockers, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing no hits, no runs and striking out three.
Erik Harbutz went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.
Bradley threatened in third, but Mikel Mucha would not allow the Braves to get on the board when he made a great throw from left field to throw out David Compitello at home.
The game was scoreless all the way into the bottom of the tenth. Tyler Baker reached base on a fielder's choice, then advanced to second on a groundout by Josh Halbert. Baker then advanced to third on a balk by Bradley pitcher Rob Kennedy. In the next at-bat, Erik Harbutz won the game for the Shockers when he plated Baker with a single to left.
The Shockers and Braves will play game three of the series on Sunday at Eck Stadium. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
