But it was his final touchdown that created the buzz sure to flow into Butler's home opener next Saturday. Smith broke through the Conquistador front 7 with quick cuts and sped 55 yards for his second rushing TD, making the score 42-6 with 11:21 to play in the 3rd quarter.
That was the second longest run of the night, as Ty Suggs went 74 yards for the Grizzlies' final touchdown, creating the 72-12 final tally.
Butler's defense accounted for 2 touchdowns, with Torrell Saffold and Max Martinez returning interceptions for points.
Butler will host Blinn, Texas, the former school of Heisman winner Cam Newton, on Saturday as the school debuts the $12 million BG Products Veterans Sports Complex in El Dorado.
