Clemente added 12 to lead Wichita State past Missouri State 59-46
in the opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament
Thursday.
Wichita State (16-15), which won for the fifth time in seven
games, advances to face second-seeded Creighton (25-6) in a
quarterfinal game Friday. The game begins at 6:05 p.m. and will be shown on Fox Sports Network.
Kyle Weems led Missouri State (11-20) with 20 points, 16 in the
first half. Will Creekmore grabbed 10 rebounds for the Bears.
Wichita State used a 10-2 run early in the second half to take
control 40-31. JT Durley, who finished with 10 points and six
rebounds, hit two baskets to key the spurt.
The Shockers held Missouri State to 29.1 percent shooting and
had a season-high nine blocked shots.
