Oklahoma State Names Starting Quarterback

Freshman Wes Lunt is Oklahoma State's starting quarterback, winning the job after leaving high school early to enroll in January.

Coach Mike Gundy announced Thursday that Lunt beat senior Clint
Chelf and redshirt freshman J.W. Walsh in a three-way competition
to replace record-setting senior Brandon Weeden. Behind Weeden, the Cowboys won their first Big 12 championship and BCS bowl game and finished No. 3.

Lunt said in a statement released by the university that he was overwhelmed and humbled to be named the starter and he knows the competition will continue up until the season.

Lunt graduated early from his high school in Rochester, Ill., to have a chance to compete for the starting job.

He threw two touchdown passes of over 50 yards to Charlie Moore
in the spring game.
