Kansas Soccer Earns Top-25 Ranking

September 25, 2012

The Jayhawks check in at No. 23 in the weekly Soccer America poll and are receiving votes in both the Continental Tire/National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the Soccer Times polls.

This marks the first time Kansas has cracked the top-25 since the 2009 season, when KU was ranked No. 25 in the Soccer America poll on Sept. 28.

Last weekend, the Jayhawks knocked off Oklahoma State, which entered the match ranked No. 7 in the NSCAA poll. Freshman Courtney Dickerson and senior Whitney Berry provided the goals, while sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Stroud made five saves. It marked the first time KU has defeated a top 10 opponent since 2008, when the Jayhawks defeated then-No. 8 Texas A&M at the Big 12 Championship.

The 23rd-ranked Jayhawks will hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to Baylor and TCU this weekend. KU and BU will square off on Friday at 7 p.m., in Waco, while the Jayhawks faced the Horned Frogs Sunday at 1 p.m.
